Beko Dishwasher E02 Error Code: What It Means and How to Fix It
An E02 code on a Beko dishwasher means it can't take in water. Usually you can fix it yourself in a few minutes: a closed or half-open tap, a kinked inlet hose, a water outage, or a clogged filter where the hose connects. If water reaches the machine and the filter is clean, the inlet valve or another internal part may need a repair.
Depending on your model and where it was sold, the code may show as E:02, E02, or a blinking P2 light.
This page covers one code. See every Beko dishwasher code we cover on our Dishwasher error codes page.
What the E02 code means
Beko calls E02 a water supply problem, but the manuals describe it a little differently by region:
- US models (beko.com US manuals, e.g. DUT36522X): If the mains water is cut off or the water inlet tap is turned off, the machine can't take water in and E:02 flashes on the program indicator. While the problem continues, the program pauses and the machine keeps checking the water inlet. Once water is restored, E:02 goes away after a while and the program carries on by itself.
- UK models (e.g. BDIN16440): Beko lists E02 for a water outage (check the water supply) or a blocked filter (clean the filter in the inlet hose). On models without a full display, the P2 light blinks, and the water outage icon and washing LED light up. If the error continues after those checks, Beko says to contact authorized service.
Beko's UK manual notes that error codes can change depending on the model. Check the troubleshooting table in your own manual, or look up your model number on Beko's website for your country.
E01 is a different code. E01 (E:01, or P1 on some models) means the leak protection has been triggered by too much water or water in the base. That's the opposite problem.
Likely causes (most common first)
- Water tap closed or not fully open. The most common cause, especially after plumbing work or moving the machine.
- Water supply cut off. A water outage, a main shutoff, or work on your plumbing.
- Kinked, pinched, or crushed inlet hose. Beko warns hoses can get folded or pinched when the machine is pushed back into place.
- Blocked filter in the inlet hose. Sand, clay, or rust from the water supply collects on the small filter where the hose connects. Beko lists this as an E02 cause.
- Low water pressure. Beko's UK manual calls for at least 0.3 bar (about 4.4 psi) and no more than 10 bar (about 145 psi) at the tap. Check your own manual for your model's range.
- Faulty inlet valve, wiring, or control. If water reaches the machine and the filter is clean, an internal part is the likely cause.
How to fix it, step by step
Try the dishwasher again after each step. On US models the program may resume by itself once water is flowing.
- Open the water tap all the way. It's usually under the sink. Make sure it's fully open, not just cracked.
- Check that your water is on. Run the kitchen faucet. If the water is off or very weak everywhere, the problem is your supply, not the dishwasher. Beko says the program resumes once the water is restored.
- Straighten the inlet hose. Look under the sink and, if you can, behind the kick area for kinks, flattened spots, or a hose trapped when the machine was pushed in.
- Clean the inlet hose filter. Beko's UK manual says to check and clean it from time to time. These are its steps:
- Switch off the dishwasher at the plug or breaker.
- Turn off the water tap.
- Remove the inlet hose from the tap, with a towel and a small bowl ready.
- Take the filter out of the hose and rinse it under the tap until it's clear.
- Put the filter back inside the hose and reattach the hose to the tap.
- Open the tap fully and check for leaks, then restore power.
- This filter is model dependent, so check your manual if you can't find it.
- Check the water pressure. If every faucet in the house is weak, or you're on a well, have the pressure checked. Beko's UK manual gives 0.3 to 10 bar (about 4.4 to 145 psi), and above 10 bar it says you need a pressure-reducing valve.
- Check the hose itself. Beko says to use the new inlet hose supplied with the dishwasher (not an old one) and not to splice hoses. A damaged or old hose should be replaced.
- Restart. Cancel the program and start it again. On the BDIN16440, for example, you press and hold the Start/Hold/Cancel key for 3 seconds. Check your manual for your model's buttons.
- Suspect the inlet valve. If water flows freely and the filter is clean but E02 keeps coming back, see "Test the part" or contact authorized service.
Test the part
Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) and turn off the water supply before you open any panel. Take resistance (ohm) readings only with the power disconnected, and if you’re not comfortable using a multimeter, stop and call a pro.
If the supply is fine, the likeliest failed part is the water inlet valve. It sits behind the kick plate, where the inlet hose enters the machine. Beko warns that removing the kick plate on free-standing and under-counter models voids the warranty. If your dishwasher is under warranty, stop after step 3 and call Beko service.
- Unplug the dishwasher (or switch off its breaker) and close the water tap.
- Do a bucket test. Disconnect the inlet hose at the tap end, hold it over a bucket and briefly open the tap. A strong flow means the supply is fine. A trickle points to the tap or your plumbing. Close the tap again.
- Inspect the hose and filter. Check that the filter is clean and undamaged, the rubber washer is in place, and the hose has no kinks or bulges.
- Out of warranty and comfortable with tools? Remove the kick plate as your manual describes, and find the inlet valve where the hose connects. Watch for sharp edges.
- Photograph the wires, then pull the connector off by its housing, not the wire.
- Check the coil. Set your multimeter to the lowest ohms setting and touch one probe to each valve terminal. Some resistance means the coil has continuity. Infinity or "OL" (open circuit) means the coil has failed and the valve needs replacing. Correct readings vary by model, so compare against your model's tech sheet if you have one.
A valve can pass this test and still be stuck shut. If the coil has continuity and E02 keeps coming back, stop and call a pro. The next checks need live voltage, which isn't a DIY job.
Safety notes
- Switch off the power before disconnecting the hose, and keep the plug and socket dry.
- Turn the water tap off before removing the inlet hose. It's under pressure.
- Put towels down. A little water always comes out of the hose.
- Don't tip the dishwasher. Beko warns that tilting it toward the front can get electronic parts inside wet and damage them.
- Hand-tighten the hose at the tap. Then open the tap fully and check for leaks, as Beko advises.
- No live electrical tests. Leave voltage checks to a technician.
When to call a pro
Call Beko authorized service or a qualified appliance technician if:
- E02 (or E:02, or a blinking P2) keeps coming back with the tap fully open and the filter clean.
- Water flows strongly from the hose but the machine won't fill.
- You see a leaking valve, damaged wiring, or water under the machine.
- The dishwasher is under warranty. Removing the kick plate can void it.
Beko's manuals say to contact the authorized service agent. Use your manual or Beko's website for your country to find the right contact.

FAQ
Will my Beko dishwasher restart by itself after E02?
On US models, yes. Beko says the program pauses, keeps checking the water inlet, and resumes once water is restored.
Where is the filter that causes E02?
In the end of the inlet hose where it connects to the tap, on models that have one. Turn off the tap and remove the hose to reach it.
What water pressure does a Beko dishwasher need?
Beko's UK manual calls for 0.3 to 10 bar (about 4.4 to 145 psi). Check your own manual, since US manuals may list it differently.
Is P2 the same as E02 on a Beko?
On some UK models without a full display, Beko shows E02 as a blinking P2 light with the water outage icon lit. Check your manual's error table.
Is E02 serious?
Usually not. It's most often a closed tap or a blocked filter. If it continues after those checks, contact service.
