Before you look up a code
Many refrigerator “errors” are really alerts — a door left open, a power outage, or a showroom/demo mode that switches cooling off. Fan codes are often caused by ice from a door that didn’t seal. Sensor, defrost and compressor codes need a technician. Write down the exact code and your model number first — codes can differ between model families of the same brand.
Always unplug the appliance before removing filters or panels. Never bypass a door lock or safety switch. If you smell gas, burning, or see sparks, stop and call a professional.
