Before you look up a code

Many oven and range codes point to a temperature sensor, a door lock that won’t release after self-clean, or a stuck or wet touch panel. Gas ranges add ignition and gas-supply problems — those are a job for a qualified technician. Write down the exact code and your model number first — codes can differ between model families of the same brand.

Safety first

Always unplug the appliance before removing filters or panels. Never bypass a door lock or safety switch. If you smell gas, burning, or see sparks, stop and call a professional.
